Proposed Membership Guidelines
Participating NNDC member institutions will meet the following proposed standards:
- A critical mass of multidisciplinary experts in depressive and bipolar disorders
- Willingness to take steps to form a Depression Center that integrates basic, translational, clinical, and population-based research with clinical, and educational activities;(other network members can facilitate the formation process);
- Participation from diverse schools and departments within respective academic institutions, such as medicine, public health, nursing, pharmacy, social work, etc.
- A large depression and bipolar grant funding base;
- Substantial institutional commitment in the form of space, resources, and authorities provided to the Center director;
- Organization of transdisciplinary research, clinical delivery, and education across involved scientific areas of the institution to 'make the whole greater than the sum of its parts;'
- Community outreach, education, and training activities
- Commitment and demonstrated support for network collaborations.
