John R. Hayes, MD
Executive Director
Dr. Hayes is responsible for guiding the NNDC toward the achievement of its mission and vision and its annual goals and objectives. He oversees development and implementation of the strategic plan, pursues sustainability, and enables the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function.
Dr. Hayes most recently served as Strategy Leader for Global Neuroscience Medical Affairs for Eli Lilly and Company, where he fulfilled several roles from 1998 through 2011 including Medical Director and Vice President of Lilly Research Laboratories. He formerly filled various senior executive roles for St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services in Indiana, including President of an integrated health system consisting of seven hospitals.
A leader in American and global psychiatry, Dr. Hayes served five years as a Director on the American Board of Family Medicine, was President of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, and was instrumental in founding the international forum, Dialogue on Diabetes and Depression. He has published multiple scientific articles and book chapters and has lectured extensively around the world.
Dr. Hayes received his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed his residency training in internal medicine and psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
Gail Campanella, MBA
Chief Operating Officer
As COO, Ms. Campanella is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the NNDC, assuring alignment of internal activities with the strategic plan and cultivating the values of the NNDC within the organization.
In addition to her role as COO for the NNDC, Ms. Campanella also serves as Chief of Staff for the University of Michigan Depression Center. She was instrumental in helping to create the NNDC, which was originally launched at the University of Michigan prior to becoming a separate 501(c)(3) organization.
Lauren Hart
Research & Project Coordinator
Ms. Hart coordinates and supports NNDC Task Groups, as well as a variety of other NNDC projects and activities. She serves as a liaison between NNDC management and the Data Coordinating Center, maintains the web site and helps produce the NNDC member e-newsletter. Ms. Hart has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University.
